He is “the greatest musical talent I have met in my entire life” lauded Alfred Brendel following his discovery of Kit Armstrong . We would like to add something extra to that – his talent is limited not only to music. Although still a teenager, he has already completed a degree in mathematics, he composes, learns languages, and is no longer a Wunderkind, but rather an accomplished pianist to be taken seriously. On our Festspielhaus stage he will perform works including Schumann’s “Kinderszenen”, which confirms both his courage and daring. Armstrong doesn’t believe in virtuosic illusions. Many pianists have failed when attempting the Kinderszenen, with few successfully performing the seemingly simple pieces – invariably those older and more experienced performers. Whether young or old – in the face of the consummate genius that is Kit Armstrong - age should not even be a consideration… |
