Museum of 19th Century Art &Technology (LA8)

The Museum of 19th Century Art and Technology – whose concept makes it unique on Germany’s museum landscape – is devoted to the powerful interchanges between art and technology in the 19th century.

The themes of particular interest are photography, the urbanisation of nature in the form of city gardens and parks, the inspiring juxtaposition of telepathy and telephony, the upsurge in knowledge and education, in other words, the intellectual overlapping of art and technology and its consequences, which are still of importance for society today. These features will be highlighted in six-monthly thematic exhibitions. An accompanying programme of readings, lectures and workshops for children and young people is also planned during the exhibitions.
