Golf Club Baden-Baden
Golf Club Baden-Baden

The golf course with a difference. And one that can rightly claim to be one of Germany’s finest natural golf courses. Even when its length (4260m, Par 64) lies short of other championship courses, its exquisite subtleties require golfers with low handicaps to use all their skill and tactical nous to ensure a satisfactory score. The club which boasts a 110-year-old tradition can be proud of its mature course on the lower slopes of the Fremersberg, where the Black Forest with its mixture of larches, birches, beeches, oaks and mature chestnut trees begins. The wonderfully situated course and the extremely cosy clubhouse with its delightful terrace offer an ambience that makes Baden-Baden Golf Club the envy of many others.

Baden Hills Golf und Curling Club e.V.

Founded by the golfers of the Royal Canadian Air Force in the 1950s and considerably developed in the 1990s, the course offers a strong blend of unspoilt nature and accomplished design. Due to the special composition of the soil (sandy and free draining), the course, bordering the Rhine and Baden-Airpark, is perfectly suited to being played all-year round. The passing river barges and the Black Forest panorama give the course a special flair. Particularly appealing is the constant change between open fairways and challenging doglegs. In the clubhouse restaurant, with its large terrace, members and visitors alike can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and quality cuisine.

Golf Club Bruchsal e.V.

Golfclub Bruchsal
Golfclub Bruchsal

Even when your tee shot is veering towards the rough on this 18-hole championship course, the panoramic view of the rolling Kraichgau hills has a soothing effect on your soul. That’s because the scenery here is as calming as the course is refined. The variation in design of the individual holes with their well sculptured greens underline the natural character and offer a real sporting challenge. When being designed, care was taken to ensure that the course would continually offer new challenges to beginners and proficient golfers alike. Those preferring it somewhat easier or wish to practice can make use of the 9-hole public course or the golf school with its qualified teaching professionals. There your golfing skills will prosper from the very first swing. After, you can treat yourself to regional specialities in one of the club’s two restaurants: ‘lago’ and ‘das kleine feine’. Non-golfers are also more than welcome to dine here.

Golfclub Johannesthal e.V.

Golfclub Johannesthal e.V.
Golfclub Johannesthal e.V.

For more than 20 years, visitors have been appreciating this challenging and excellently maintained golf course where tee-off times are not required. The 18 holes are picturesquely nestled into the lower slopes of the rolling Kraichgau landscape giving the round a very special character. The club’s focus on the sporting aspects of golf is reflected in the course design: relatively wide fairways and flat, playable bunkers that weave their way from hillock to hillock. The course, however, can bite back when your shots become too wayward as the strategically placed rough may be pretty on the eye but damaging to your score. The same applies to the water hazards that have to be negotiated either from the tee box or when approaching the green. A visit to the excellent restaurant in the listed clubhouse building is very much part and parcel of the golfing experience at Golfclub Johannesthal.

Golf de la Wantzenau

Golf de la Wantzenau
Golf de la Wantzenau

Ten kilometres from Strasbourg lies Golf de la Wantzenau. The course was designed by the renowned English architect Jeremy Pern who was assisted by Jean Garaïalde, one of France’s best ever professional golfers. Water hazards are a regular feature of the course but so too are long fairways and tree-lined holes. Players of all abilities will be in their element here. The training area which is open to the public includes a 12-hole compact course, a driving range with both covered and grass tee boxes, and a putting green. In 72 hectares of idyllic countryside, the clubhouse and its architecture remind golfers of Alsace’s grand heritage. After the round, golfers come together to relax on the terrace, to savour the restaurant’s excellent cuisine or to refresh themselves at the bar.
