Naturlehrpfad nature trail
Starting at the hiking information point at the Merkur’s bottom station, the path initially follows the Müllenbildstraße past the Hässlichmatte meadow to the springs at Scherenschleiferbrunnen. From here, the trail climbs up to the funicular railway’s middle station and then down through picturesque beech woods and orchids to the Langengehren allotments before returning to the bottom station of the Merkur funicular railway.
This walk featuring only moderate inclines and also negotiable with a pushchair enables you to discover the 23 different information stations set out along this nature trail. It’s not only children who will find the discoveries intriguing. Those wishing to stop for a break during the walk can do so at the Waldcafé.
The explanations to the trail’s 23 stations can be found in the brochure available from the forestry office, the tourist information centres, the kiosk at the Merkur funicular railway’s bottom terminal, the Merkurstüble, the Waldcafé and the Nachtigall guesthouse.
