Geroldsau Waterfall

A few yards of wooden walkways and a couple of small climbs - that’s all it takes to reach the famous Geroldsau waterfall. It truly is a gift of nature. What with the thunderous waterfall plunging into the turquoise pond, the gentle ripples lapping against the rocks and the infatuating scent in the cool, refreshing air of the blossoming rhododendrons. It’s no wonder that Johannes Brahms and Gustave Courbet became addicted to the place. For them it was the perfect setting to fuel their creative minds.

Geroldsauer Wasserfall Baden-Baden

If the short footpath along the banks of the Grobbach is not enough for you, there are a number of marked paths and hiking trails leading away from the waterfall for you to explore. For those, however, with tired legs, we recommend that you recharge your batteries in the Bütthof woodland inn, not far from the waterfall.

The waterfall can be reached on foot via the Panoramaweg. This hiking trail crosses the Wannacker car park on the B500 road, the Schwarzwaldhochstraße, and provides the perfect spot for you to join the path. Or, if you want to park even closer to the waterfall, stay on the Geroldsauer Straße. This then becomes the Wasserfallstraße and takes you right past the waterfall.
