Rose Society Garden
You are not that familiar with this passionate, heart warming flower?
Then take up our invitation to visit the wonderful Rose Garden on the low-lying slopes of the Fremersberg mountain. Then you will understand why the World Federation of Rose Societies presented the garden with the ‘Award of Garden Excellence’.
Rose-covered arches, beds and fields brimming with colourful flowers, and shrubs overflowing with roses: seated on one of the comfortable benches, there are magnificent roses of all colours wherever you look. And among them, the new rose varieties of the current year. Every year, rose enthusiasts, growers and an international jury get together in Baden-Baden to evaluate the new varieties and present the Golden Rose of Baden-Baden, Germany’s top award for roses.
The Competition for New Rose Varieties in Baden-Baden is considered to be one of the most important of its kind in Europe. In fact, enthusiasts see Baden-Baden as the secret rose capital of Germany. The Rose Society Garden can even compete with the renowned trial gardens in Paris, Rome and St Albans, England.
The annual International Competition for New Rose Varieties is hosted by Gartenamt Baden-Baden on Beutig Hill. Garden visitors also have the opportunity this year to actively participate in the International Competition for New Rose Varieties: visitors select their personal favourites from among the new varieties to win the public award for the most beautiful rose. Visitors can cast their vote on the voting slips provided until early October.
And even if ‘beauty pageants’ aren’t really your thing, you’ll be amazed by the overwhelming abundance of flowers on your stroll through the rose garden.
